CMS Athletics Weekly Round Up

CMS football teams concluded their final regular season conference match-ups last Friday night. We saw many teams put up season high points and even more qualifying for NCHSAA playoffs on the night. Congratulations to all our football programs on a great 2017 season! For results and updates from last week’s games, read below!

 

Friday, November 3

 

Mallard Creek def. Mooresville, 27-0

Mallard Creek completed their regular season with a perfect 11-0 record after their shut-out win over Mooresville last Friday night. This was the Mavericks third shut-out win of the season securing the I-Meck conference championship!

 

Butler def. East Meck, 54-21

Butler displayed a strong performance over Southwestern conference opponent East Meck last week. The Bulldogs scored a season high 54 points on the night advancing their final regular season record to 8-2 and securing the Southwestern conference championship! East Meck rounded out the season at 5-6.

 

Harding def. Olympic, 41-0

Harding earned the sixth straight win last Friday night with a shut-out victory over Olympic. This was the team’s fourth shut-out victory of the season. They conclude the regular season with an overall record of 9-1 while Olympic finishes at 3-7. Harding will have a first round bye in the NCHSAA playoffs!

 

North Meck def. Lake Norman, 51-17

North Meck put on another strong performance last week with a win over Lake Norman. This win comes after three straight losses in the month of October. The team also scored a season high 51 points on the night advancing their regular season record to 8-3.

 

West Charlotte def. Hopewell, 50-6

West Charlotte dominated Hopewell during their final conference match-up last Friday night. They also scored a season high 50 points on the night. The Lions round out the season at 5-6 with Hopewell unable to find success.

 

Myers Park def. Independence, 10-0

Myers Park secured another low-scoring game over Independence last week. With just ten points scored on the night, the Mustangs advanced their regular season record to 10-1. Independence concluded the season at 2-9. The win tied Myers Park with Butler for the Southwestern conference championship, however, Butler won the head to head match-up. Myers Park takes second!

 

Hough def. Vance, 47-14

Hough proved a tough competitor once again taking the win over Vance last Friday night. The win comes after a tough loss to Mallard Creek the week before. Both teams conclude the regular season at 8-3.

 

Providence def. South Meck, 42-12

Providence secured their final So Meck 7 conference win of the season with a 30-point victory over South Meck. The is was the Panthers fourth consecutive win keeping them undefeated throughout the month of October. The team concludes the season with an overall record of 8-3. South Meck finishes at 2-9.

 

Rocky River def. Garinger, 44-13

Rocky River scored a season high 44 points during their win last Friday night over Garinger. This was their second consecutive win improving their overall record to 2-9 on the season. Garinger concluded the season at 1-10 earning the school’s first win years back on September 8th.

 

West Meck def. Berry, 73-8

West Meck also scored a season high 73 points on the night during the win over Berry last Friday night. Berry rounds out the season with an overall record of 1-10. West Meck concludes the regular season with an overall record of 8-3 earning them a first round bye in the NCHSAA playoffs!

Men's Soccer

CMS men’s soccer teams competed in their first two rounds of the NCHSAA playoffs last week. Myers Park, Providence and Hough will continue their playoff this week after securing wins over the weekend. 1st Round of Playoffs:

 

  • Independence def. Butler, 2-0
  • Mooresville def. North Meck, 5-1
  • Page def. Mallard Creek, 5-1
  • South Meck def. Lumberton, 6-0
  • West Forsyth def. Ardrey Kell, 1-0

 

Saturday, November 4

2nd Round Playoffs:

 

  • Myers Park def. RJ Reynolds, 1-0
  • Providence def. West Forsyth, 1-0
  • Hough def. Independence, 4-0

Volleyball

Saturday, November 4

NCHSAA 4A State Championship:

 

Green Hope def. Hough, 3-0

Hough took on Green Hope at the NCHSAA 4A State Championship over the weekend. The Huskies were unable to secure the win, however, their impressive 15-1 record is nothing to hang their heads about. Congratulations to the Hough volleyball team on a great season!

Women's Tennis

CMS women’s tennis saw six teams compete at the NCHSAA Dual Team Championships over the weekend. Congratulations to everyone on a great 2017 season! For complete results from the weekends, click here.

Cross Country
