CMS STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COUNCIL (SAAC)
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Student-Athlete Advisory Council (CMS SAAC), is an organization
that empowers student-athletes through initiatives, events, and community service activities.
OUR MISSION
The SAAC was established to amplify the voices of student-athletes within CMS and allow them to make more significant changes within the school district.
We strive to establish and maintain equity, equality, and inclusiveness among all athletes and coaches through education, competition, and community service
PAST INITIATIVES
In its first two years, the CMS SAAC has launched a number of initiatives and events, such as:
- Hosting the Student-Athletes United Summit
- Organizing the CMS All-Star Gala
- Founding the CMS Athletic Honor Society
- Publicizing the GamePlan app to student-athletes
- Kickstarting the CMS Girls’ Flag Football program
OUR FUTURE
In the coming year, the SAAC looks to build off its past initiatives by continuing its work with the following:
- The Student-Athletes United Summit
- The CMS All-Star Gala
- The CMS Athletic Honor Society
- The GamePlan app
- New initiatives for the coming year include:
- Offering internships with National Amateur Sports to our members
- Hosting a CMS All-Star Basketball Game
- Organizing a Parents’ Night Out for CMS student-athlete parents
