AK SPORTS REPORT

(May 20-25, 2019)

The 2018-2019 AK Athletics year has come to an end.  Men’s Lacrosse provided quite an ending to the year with their exciting run to the NCHSAA 4A State Championship game after winning the 4A West Regional Championship in the last Home event of the year!  Only two weeks remain of regular class schedules in preparation for Final Exams…..best of luck to all our Knights finishing strong in the classroom!  GO KNIGHTS!  PROTECT THE CASTLE!

SPRING SPORTS

  • MEN’S LACROSSE: AK Men’s Lacrosse began the week hosting Greensboro Page in the NCHSAA 4A West Regional Finals in front of a packed house at THE CASTLE.  The Knights came out firing on all cylinders and dominated page from start to finish, winning 11-5 to capture the Regional Championship and advance to the first State Championship appearance in program history!  In the State Finals, AK faced off against Cardinal Gibbons over the weekend at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.  The Knights were unable to find their mojo for much of the contest, eventually falling to a strong Crusaders team.  Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and parents on a phenomenal season that finished 19-3 overall, 6-0 and Conference Champions in the Regular Season and Tournament, NCHSAA 4A West Regional Champions, and NCHSAA 4A State Runner-Up!
    • SEASON COMPLETE

  • MEN’S GOLF: AK Men’s Golf competed in the NCHSAA 4A State Tournament this past Monday and Tuesday at Pinehurst No. 8 after coming off their 4A West Regional Runner-Up performance.  However, the Knights were not able to put it together as a team to make a run at the top of the leaderboard.  Still another strong season for the Knights with a Top 10 finish in the State!  Congrats to top individual performers for the Knights, Cam Whitney (Top 10 individual finish by finishing 10th Place) and Grahman Chase (Top 25 individual finish by placing 23rd).
    • SEASON COMPLETE

  • MEN’S TENNIS: AK Men’s Tennis saw their season come to an end in the Elite 8 of the Dual Team State Playoffs, falling on the road to a strong Myers Park team.  Another great season for the Knights, including an undefeated SoMeck 7 Conference Championship!
