CHAMBERS COUGARS COMPETE IN 4TH STRAIGHT 4A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Chambers Cougars cruised through the 2021 football season making their fourth consecutive appearance in a championship game.  The team scored a whopping 223 points in the playoffs before falling to Cardinal Gibbons in the championship. 

Chambers will return 10 of 11 starters on offense in 2022 and opens their season in a rematch with Cardinal Gibbons in August.

ARDREY KELL PLAYS IN 4A VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP, FINISHING STRONG IN 2021

The Ardrey Kell Knights finished the season 31-2, won the So Meck 4A Conference title and advanced to the State Title Game for the second time in three years. 

The 4A Volleyball NC Farm Bureau Sportsmanship Award winners were Lizzie Boggess from Green Level and Meniya Person from Ardrey Kell.

HOUGH & SOUTH MECK BATTLE IN MENS SOCCER 4A STATE PLAYOFFS

CMS was well represented in the 4A Men's Soccer State Championships as Hough and South Meck both advanced through the 4th rounds of playoffs before meeting in the regional championships.  Hough prevailed over South Meck 1-0 sending them to the 4A Championship game where they fell to New Hanover.

Hough finished the 2021 season 22-4-1. The Huskies were 11-1 and champions of the Queen City 3A/4A Conference. The Huskies won their second Western Regional Final appearing in the State Championship for the first time since 2017. 

Griffin Klebba from Hough was chosen as a 2021 4A Men’s Soccer NC Farm Bureau Sportsmanship Award Recipient.

 


HOUGH & MYERS PARK REPRESENT CMS IN WOMEN'S TENNIS 4A CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 4A Dual Team Women's Tennis State Championship saw competition from CMS's Hough and Myers Park women's tennis teams.  

Both teams would play eventual champion, Marvin Ridge with Myers Park (18-1) advancing to the quarter-finals and Hough (16-1) meeting Marvin Ridge in the semi-finals.

MYERS PARK FIELD HOCKEY CAPTURES 5TH NCFHA TITLE

Field hockey is an unsanctioned sport in NC but sees a lot of action thanks to the North Carolina Field Hockey Association who provides a league for teams across the state to compete and organizes the state championship.

In 2021, three high school teams from CMS fielded teams and competed in the state championship playoffs:  Ardrey Kell, South Meck, and Myers Park.  

The Myers Park Mustangs won 3-0 over Chapel Hill on November 6th. It is their 5th state championship.
