ESPN's National Director of Recruiting to host camp at Myers Park

ESPN’s national director of high school basketball recruiting Paul Biancardi will host a skills and development camp Sept. 26 at Myers Park High School.

Biancardi, a former head college coach at Wright State, will get a chance to teach and evaluate players. And this is a rare chance for area players to be seen by a guy who sits on the McDonald’s All-American Game committee and helps produce the nation’s most respected national rankings. Biancardi lives in the immediate Charlotte area.

Helping Biancardi will be the staff from Accelerate Basketball, the south Charlotte-based company that trains current NBA players Stephen Curry, Anthony Morrow and others.

During the camp, from 1:30-3 p.m., Biancardi will lead a seminar for all parents who want to learn more about the college recruiting process. I think it’s a rare opportunity for parents to hear from a very knowledgeable insider on the dos and don’ts. A recent Observer article -- Want to get your kid a sports scholarship? Read this -- also touched on the recruiting process with input from UNC football assistant coach Gunter Brewer and Tennessee men’s basketball coach Desmond Oliver.
