AK SPORTS REPORT

(September 28—October 3, 2015)

HOMECOMING WEEK IS HERE!  And we say “goodbye” to September and “hello” to October.  It should be a great week at AK, as we have a busy schedule of big home athletic events this week and Homecoming activities.  Friday will be especially jam packed with community spirit, as the Fall Sports Pep Rally takes place during the day, the annual Homecoming Parade over to Community House Middle takes place after school (3:00 PM), and the Varsity Football Homecoming Game and Ceremony cap off the day.  Also, coinciding with the Homecoming Game, the annual Pink Out game theme will be taking place.  Let’s have a great Homecoming Week Knights!

  • FOOTBALL: (AK Football started off strong in SoMeck 8 Conference play, defeating West Meck 47-20 to begin 1-0 in the conference.  Olympic visits this Friday for AK Homecoming, as the Knights look for a 2-0 SoMeck 8 start!)
    • 10/1 – JV @ Olympic (6:00 PM)
    • 10/2 – Varsity @ Home vs. Olympic (7:00 PM)

  • VOLLEYBALL: (AK Volleyball earned two conference victories last week and stand at 7-1 in the SoMeck 8, tied for 1st Place going into the second half of the conference season.  Two more conference matches this week, and the JV’s continue their undefeated season!)

  • MEN’S SOCCER: (AK Men’s Soccer split their conference matches last week with a close 1-0 loss at Home to rival Providence.  They still sit at a strong 3-1 in the SoMeck 8 and have 3 matches on the schedule this week, including another big home conference match on Wednesday against Charlotte Catholic!  Good luck Knights!)
    • 9/28 - @ Berry
      • JV – 4:30 PM

      • JV – 4:30 PM
      • Varsity – 6:00 PM

  • WOMEN’S TENNIS: (AK Women’s Tennis was washed out last week due to the wet weather.  They have a pivotal week ahead with three SoMeck 8 matches on the schedule, including two big home matches vs. Providence and Charlotte Catholic.  Let’s Go Lady Knights!)
    • 9/28 - @ Home vs. Providence (4:00 PM)
    • 9/29 - @ Berry (4:00 PM)
    • 10/1 - @ Home vs. Charlotte Catholic (4:00 PM)

  • WOMEN’S GOLF: (AK Women’s Golf continued their great season with 4 victories last week, including wins over Charlotte Catholic, South Meck, Mt. Pleasant and Myers Park!  Their overall record stands at 6-0 on the season and they look for another win over Charlotte Catholic this week in a big conference match on Wednesday.  Keep it up Lady Knights!)
