Hello Everyone , I hope you are all safe and know you have many questions. As of this moment many of your questions will be answered as soon as I get information from CMS. This is a fluid situation and we will learn how long we will be out of school and a possible date of return to athletics (as of now April 6th- could change at any time) in the near future. Information is changing every hour. Please stay safe and listen to all the warnings on how to deal with this virus. Need your help so we can get back to school and athletics as soon as we can.
TO: Middle School & K-8 Athletic Directors
You are most likely aware that due to the threat from COVID-19, the NCHSAA suspended interscholastic high school athletics across the state beginning Friday, March 13th at 11:59pm through Monday, April 6th. The NCHSAA will continue to assess the situation regularly during this time.
Subsequently, CMS made the decision to suspend all middle school athletics beginning Friday, March 13th at 11:59pm through Monday, April 6th. For clarification, this includes games, practices, and team gatherings of any kind on or off the school campus… ALL means ALL. CMS will continue to asses the situation regularly during this time as well.
Thank you for all you will do to help your student-athletes navigate this difficult time. Please continue to remain vigilant around COVID-19 information and correspondence.

CHAPEL HILL, NC – In response to the growing threat from the COVID-19 outbreak, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA), in consultation with the host facilities and university administrators, will conduct Saturday’s scheduled State Basketball Championship Games with only essential staff and limited family in attendance.
“This decision is not one we make lightly,” said Commissioner Que Tucker. “We recognize that participating in a state championship game is often a once in a lifetime experience for our student-athletes, coaches their families and many in the community. However, the NCHSAA must do its part in providing leadership necessary to keep our students, communities and state as safe as possible from the rising threat of COVID-19.”
The games will be contested with essential team personnel and a limited number of family members in attendance. No tickets will be sold at the door. Concessions will not be available for the limited attendees. Members of the media will not be permitted to attend.
All eight games will be televised through the Sinclair Broadcasting Group statewide television network. The games will also be available through the NFHS Network (www.NFHSNetwork.com) for those who are unable to view the contests being broadcast through Sinclair stations. The affiliate schedule and streaming links can be found here.
Your GoFan purchase will be refunded back to the original method of payment used. Expected processing time for refunds is 5 to 10 business days and will vary based on cancellation volume. If you have questions regarding the cancellation of events and resulting refunds please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
No longer do you need to print out the eligibility packet. All that is needed for each athlete/parent is to register on this link. Fill out all forms, print receipt and give to your coach before you tryout or train in offseason workouts. You must complete all items before you can go to the next page on the online forms. The Ticket to play link will open June 1st.
After you print receipt you must give a physical, 2 proofs of residency from Column A and Column B (lease, mortgage statement and a utility bill) and pay for participation (link is below) or waiver (free and reduced lunch from Child Nutrition Services) to your coach.
This process will save time and energy on all parts.
The link that permits families to pay the participation fee on-line will go live on Aug 1. As a result, families of student-athletes who make a team cannot pay the fee on-line until Aug 1.
Also note … families cannot pay the participation fee at the school and school personnel cannot accept payment of the participation fee at the school, by check or any other means.
Please inform all applicable school personnel not to accept payments
You will not be able to participate in a game if you have not satisfied the pay for participation or free and reduced lunch waiver form within 24 hours of a scheduled game.
You must use the NCHSAA physical form below completed by your doctor in order to tryout, participate in sports as well as workouts with teams. Please make sure you turn your physical in to your coach and complete Ticket to Play in order to tryout and participate in workouts.
