2015 Western Regional Champions!
Wes Morgan will fulfill a dream of his to play Division I basketball. Wes has committed to play in Jacksonville for Coach Matt Driscoll. Knight Nation is very proud of Wes! Morgan averaged 13 points per game and set school records for three's in a game (9) and three's in a season with 78.
Independence played a terrific second quarter and went up by twelve, and the Knights never recovered. AK was playing in their fourth consecutive state tournament, and had won seven out of eight state playoff games.
AK traveled to Mt. Tabor and played one of its best games all season, winning 76-56. The Knights got up early and never let up as they played one of their best games in two years. AK travels to Independence on Thursday in the 2nd of the state tourney.
Ardrey Kell will travel to #3 Mt. Tabor in the first round of the state tournament on Tuesday. The Knights are playing in their fourth state tournament in a row, and eighth overall.
The Knights basketball team went into Charlotte Latin and took three games in three days. Nathan Willson took home the MVP trophy, and Michael Crosby and Jerod Carrier were all-tournament. The Knights are now 7-7 overall and have won 6 out of 7.
AK has fought and clawed its way to a 3-1 record in the conference. It was a struggle in the non-conference portion of the schedule, but the Knights have been able to win some close games in the conference. The Knights will play in Latin's tourney Dec. 28, 29, and 30.
The Knights will again play one of the toughest schedules in the state. This includes non-conference battles with Concord, Marvin Ridge, Myers Park, Weddington, Rocky River, North Rowan, and Hough. It becomes even tougher once you tack on the tough SoMeck8 conference. The Knights made the state championship game last year as they won 27 straight games (school record).
The amazing run of the men's basketball team came up a little short of a state championship by a score of 70-64. The Knights end the season with a record of 28-2 that included a winning streak of 27 straight games. You can read below about the state championship game and other parts of the season.
The Ardrey Kell Knights were ranked #39 in the country by USA Today going into the state championship game vs. Garner. The Knights were ranked in the top 50 for six weeks.
Ardrey Kell (#1 in the Sweet 16) defeated Providence and Berry this week in two important conference games. The Knights beat Providence 75-55 on Tuesday as Rhyle Scott continued his hot play with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Steven Santa added 14 and Wes Morgan came off the bench to score 12 points (career high).
On Friday night, the Knights played before the largest crowd of the season (packed house at the Castle) and beat Berry 76-47. Collin Cooper hit four three pointers and poured in 17 points (season high), and Rhyle Scott and Josh Freund had 14 points each. Nine Knights scored in the game as Steven Santa Ana and Devin Cooper each had 8. Seth Davis chipped in 5 points and also had a stellar game at the point guard position.
The AK Knights basketball team completed a perfect tournament in the Hoodies House High School Tournament by defeating Lake Norman, Victory Christian, and Concord. The Knights record stands at 12-1 after defeating the three opponents over the Christmas break.
Rhyle Scott was named MVP of the tournament and Steven Santa Ana was named to the all-tournament team. All seven seniors played well in the tournament as did all the other team members. Coach Craft had this to say, "It was a total team effort the entire tournament. I am very proud of our seniors for winning their second Christmas tournament in three years. We look forward to carrying this momentum into the rest of the conference season."
The AK men's basketball team improved to 9-1 with two big wins last week against conference opponents. The Knights' conference record stands at 3-0.
Olympic game: The Knights held an 11 point lead at half only to go down by 7 with 2:00 minutes to go. Steven Santa Ana scored ten points in a 12-0 run that allowed the Knights to go up by 5 points. Devin Cooper hit some key free-throws down the stretch.
Harding game: AK beat Harding 71-60 in a battle in the Castle. The Knights had five players in double figures as seven seniors played stellar.
Next game: The Knights will play Lake Norman, Victory Christian, and Concord in next week's Hoodies High School Tourney at Ardrey Kell.

The AK basketball team won two home games this past week against East Meck (70-26) and West Meck (62-51). Both games were great team wins and propelled the Knights to a record of 7 wins and 1 loss.
Collin Cooper led the Knights against West Meck with 19 points, followed by Steven Santa Ana with 15 points (13 rebounds), and Seth Davis passed out 10 assists.
The Knights have two important games this week as they travel to Olympic on Tuesday and have Harding on Thursday at home. Both games are conference games.
The AK Knights had two big road wins this past week and raised their record to 5-1 overall. The Knights defeated Rocky River on Tuesday by a score of 63-39 and then won at North Rowan on Thursday by a score of 62-57 in OT. "We won two road games last week and that is hard to do on any level," said Coach Craft.
The Knights will be in action this week on Monday (East Meck) and Friday (West Meck) and both those games will be in the Castle.
Ardrey Kell defeated Davidson Day on Saturday to run its record to 3-1. The Knights have now won 2 in a row as they defeated Weddington last Monday at home. In the game on Saturday, the Knights had balanced scoring (Steven Santa Ana 16, Collin, Cooper 15, Rhyle Scott 14, and Luke Lawson and Josh Freund had 7. Seth Davis played a great game at the point guard position. The Knights will play at Rocky River on Tuesday and at North Rowan on Thursday.
AK held the annual Alumni Game at the Castle on Friday. It was a great game as the odd years won the game (but we did have some players that were switched to even it up). It was great to see all of our former players!
AK opened the season with a win over Marvin Ridge by the score of 67-30. The Knights were led by Josh Freund, who had a career high 15 points Steven Santa Ana and Collin Cooper had 12 points, while Rhyle Scott and Seth Davis had 8 points a piece. The Knights travel to Myers Park on Friday night.

The AK Knights opened up with a big win vs. South Caldwell (83-33). It was a total team effort as the Knights placed four players in double figures. The Knights will be back at the Castle on Monday night vs. Richmond senior.
AK is now #39 according to USA Today. The Knights have been ranked for six weeks in a row.
The Knights are awaiting the inclement weather to leave so the playoffs can begin. AK is scheduled to play South Caldwell when the playoffs can begin. Stay tuned!
The Knights are ranked #43 in the nation this week. The Knights were previously #50 and have moved up each of the past 5 weeks to move to #43. The team will play Providence in the first round of the conference tournament on Tuesday. Please see the poll from the link below.
Steven Santa Ana scored his 1,500th point as the Knights defeated conference foe Providence 73-48 at the Castle Tuesday night. Santa Ana nailed five three pointers as he needed eleven points to get to 1,500. Congratulations Steven!
The Knights will be the #1 seed of the conference and have clinched at least a tie with three games to go.

Ardrey Kell is rated #46 in the country in the latest USA Today High School Super Rankings. This is the fourth week in a row the Knights have been rated in the Top 50. The Knights are also rated #2 in the state of North Carolina and #1 in the Sweet 16 in the Charlotte Observer.
The Knights have a key conference game with Berry tomorrow night at Berry.
